Conflict of Interest Policy

Purpose

This policy protects the interests of Rise Above Recovery when a Board member, officer, or key staff member has an actual or potential conflict of interest with a transaction or arrangement involving the organization.

Duty to disclose

Board members and key staff must disclose any financial, familial, or other interest that could reasonably be seen to conflict with the organization's interests, including relationships with vendors, landlords, or contractors.

Annual disclosure & recusal

  • Board members complete an annual conflict of interest disclosure statement.
  • A Board member with a conflict on a specific matter discloses it and recuses themselves from discussion and voting on that matter.
  • The Board maintains records of disclosures and recusals as part of its governance documentation.
