Our Programs

A continuum of housing, skills, and support designed to help residents move from stabilization to lasting independence.

Current status: Rise Above Recovery is a newly incorporated Iowa nonprofit in pre-development — we do not yet have an open home or enrolled residents. The programs below describe how our model is designed to work once we open our first home.
Faith-integrated support is always voluntary. It is never a condition of housing, services, or any program at Rise Above Recovery. Residents of all beliefs and backgrounds — and no faith background at all — are equally welcome. See the Faith-Integrated Support section below for details.
Sober Living Housing

Sober living housing

We are working to open sober living residences that will offer safe, substance-free, and structured homes where residents can stabilize and build a foundation for lasting recovery.

Homes are trauma-informed, meaning our approach to structure and accountability recognizes the impact of past trauma and prioritizes safety, choice, and empowerment for every resident. Housing is offered in full compliance with ADA and Fair Housing requirements.

Building Independence

Life skills & workforce development

Residents participate in structured programming covering budgeting, employment readiness, communication, healthy relationships, and daily living skills. We partner with area employers and training providers to help residents build stable, sustainable income.

  • Financial literacy and budgeting
  • Resume building and job placement support
  • Educational and vocational training referrals
  • Daily living and household management skills
Staying the Course

Community-based accountability

Recovery is strengthened in community. Residents take part in peer accountability groups, regular check-ins, and structured house routines that reinforce sober living principles while fostering mutual support and shared responsibility.

These programs extend beyond the home through community outreach and public education efforts that help reduce stigma around addiction and mental health across Black Hawk County.

Voluntary & Inclusive

Faith-integrated recovery support

For residents who wish to incorporate faith into their recovery journey, Rise Above Recovery offers optional faith-integrated programming, mentorship, and community connections.

Important: Participation in any faith-based programming is entirely voluntary and is never a condition of housing, services, or support. Residents of all beliefs and backgrounds are welcome.
